Hydrogen & the opportunity for mining value chains

For the first time, the conversation on hydrogen and mining was featured as a dedicated session at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in Sydney, Australia 2022. Our Managing Director, Clare Larkins-Sykes was invited to host the conversation with a range of leaders across the emerging hydrogen sector including the topic of investment in hydrogen and perspectives from Japan as a key investment market.

The session explored the topic of hydrogen subsurface storage and discussed key policy developments including the NSW Government's Hydrogen Strategy from the Office of Energy and Climate Change.

The session included a presentation from Geoscience Australia – which discussed their work including Australia’s broader Potential for Hydrogen Storage and concluded with a panel discussion that explored the key elements involved in developing a Hydrogen Supply Chain in Australia – the Requirements, Challenges and Collaboration. Panellists included the Port of Newcastle, hydrogen hub developers Energy Estate, leading manufacturers in hydrogen technology AmpControl, Lavo, and the CRC Scaling Green Hydrogen Bid – discussing the important role of research partnerships to scale.
